Mohler Nixon & Williams has promoted senior manager Trevor Gillespie to audit partner, and senior manager Toby Johnston to tax partner. Gillespie focuses on financial statement audits and reviews of software and software-as-a-service venture-backed technology startups, as well as distributors and manufacturers.

Robert Lewis has been named as the new business process and technology leader at McGladrey. In this role, Lewis, who has been with McGladrey & Pullen and RSM McGladrey since 1990, is responsible for aligning regional and national technology strategies.

The American Institute of CPAs has hired Deloitte's Lawson Carmichael as senior vice-president for strategy, people and innovation. Carmichael will lead the AICPA’s strategic planning activities and oversee the Office of Strategy Management and Human Resources team. He will also be responsible for market research and product and services innovation.

Wipfli it has expanded its international services practice with the hiring of Bob Buetow as director of international tax services. Buetow was most recently with LarsonAllen and where he held a similar title. He had been with that firm for 13 years.

Ed Novak has been hired as Head of National Sales by Grant Thornton. Novak, who has had business development leadership positions with IBM and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, will be responsible for Grant Thornton's business development team and for generating additional revenue from new and existing accounts.
