Xero Half Revenue Doubles

xero logoXero, which markets low-cost online accounting software, saw the number of customers and its worldwide revenue double for the first half ended September 30. In both cases, the company is growing from a small base, but is continuing on a fast growth path.


The New Zealand-based company only moved into the United States about a year ago and did not break out the number of U.S. customers. It reported that for the most recently ended half, there were 6,900 of them in the United Sates and the rest of the world, outside of Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. That is up 130 percent from 3,000 on Sept. 30, 2011. Overall, it ended the half with 111,800 paying customers, a 118 percent rise from 51,300 a year earlier. More than half the total is from New Zealand, which and 57,300 as of September 30, an 87 percent rise from 30,600 a year ago.

Revenue is expected to exceed roughly $14 million, again more than double the amount in last year's corresponding period.
