FreshBooks to Start Accounting Program

Mike McDerment, FreshBooksLow-end accounting software vendor FreshBooks is launching a program for accountants. CEO Mike McDerment says the membership program is “the beginning of a more intense effort to serve the profession.” Members get accounts they can use for as long as they like.

“We have a dedicated team of folks who are happy to help you become more knowledgeable about the product,” McDerment says. “It’s about understanding which of your customers are appropriate for FreshBooks." There are also like CPE-qualified coursed so members  can learn more about FreshBooks.

FreshBooks is designed for users who sell services and is not for restaurants or any business that sells products. It is also for companies with zero to 10 employees whose owners probably do not want to use accounting packages, including QuickBooks. He also notes that, “FreshBooks is about transaction capture."

McDerment believes the proliferation of low-end online accounting products like FreshBooks is because those small companies are not being served by other accounting applications.
