Thomson Reuters Marketing Blog Opens

Jack LaRueDEXTER, Mich. - A blog featuring advice about marketing for tax and accounting firms has been launched by the Tax and Accounting business of Thomson Reuters. Called "Marketing Mondays," the blog is designed to provide information on a wide variety of marketing issues and is being written by Jack LaRue, SVP of myPay Solutions, a Thomson Reuters payroll service.

But the topic isn't limited to payroll. "It's going to be about anything dealing with marketing, " says LaRue. "It’s is going to have an accounting-firm focus." LaRue will be the sole writer until the blog establishes an identity and then the company will consider offering participation to guest writers. LaRue has more than 25 years of marketing and sales experience, both at Thomson Reuters and at his position before that with Florists' Transworld Delivery.

Subjects will cover a wide range developed by LaRue who is working with the group's marketing department. "We will have tips on some big global things, down to some very tactical kinds of things," he says. The initial entry, "The Four Stages of Maturity for Accounting Firms", discusses LaRue's view that firms go through four different tiers of attitudes about marketing. He labels them as the following:

Stage 1 – I will do business with anybody.
Stage 2 – I will only do business with clients that actually pay me.
Stage 3 – I will only take on new clients that operate in my preferred business method.
Stage 4 – I will only do business with clients that operate in my preferred business method.
