Blucora CEO William Ruckelshaus said during a recent webcast that the performance of the TaxAct subsidiary, now through its second full tax season, had been good. "We are pleased with the track record so far." Ruckelshaus singled out a new tablet offering and TaxAct Express for smartphones as having been well received.
Tax revenue for the half was $98.7 million, compared to $87.4 million in last year's corresponding period.
Company-wide earnings were $8.7 million, an increase of 3.9 percent from $8.4 million. Total revenue was $141.6 million, 20.8-higher than the $117.2 million registered a year earlier.
Blucora's other segments are its InfoSpace search business that acquired How Stuff Works in May and Monoprice, an online retailer of self-branded electronics and accessories that was acquired in August 2013.
