An El Cajon, Calif.-based tax preparer has pleaded guilty to preparing returns that cheated the Internal Revenue Service of more than $1.2 million. She faces maximum sentence of three years in prison for each count of aiding and assisting in the preparation of a false return, a period of supervised release, restitution and monetary penalties.
Her tools for boosting refunds included false charitable deductions, unreimbursed employee expenses, education credits, medical and dental expenses and business expenses.
