TaxAct Debuts Self-Employed Software

TaxAct Freelancer has been relesed to tailor tax preparation and filing for freelancers, independent contractors, and self-employed individuals. Among the features are Deduction Maixmizer, which enable taxpayers find deductions most relevant to their professions.

"The latest updates to our custom-built e-filing solutions provide members of the gig economy with the information they need to maximize their deductions and improve their overall financial situation, not just at tax time, but all year long," Jenna Ivanoski, Gig Economy Product Manager for TaxAct, said in a prepared statement.

Another enhancement to TxAct is a step-by-step interview that the company says is more intuitive for those who receive Form 1099-MISC, and may also need to file Schedule C and/or Schedule E.

There is also a self-employment tax calculator while short videos about deductions for the most common freelance professions, along with blog article with tax tips on the Freelancer landing page. A new income and expense tracker will be introduced later.

Freelancer features are also available within TaxAct premium. For more information, visit https://www.taxact.com/individual-taxes/online/premium/.
