Some Taxpayer Centers to Open Saturdays

Some Taxpayer Assistance Centers, usually closed on Saturdays, will be open on four weekends through May. The Internal Revenue Service said this week select TACS  will open 9 am to 4 pm, February March 12, April 9 and May 14.

The IRS is under pressure from a colation of companies and associations to suspend some regulatory activities and apply resources to reducing the backlog of 2021 returns and providing more communication this year.

The IRS website shows which centers will be open. Sixteen states will have only one center open on February 12, generally in the most populous.  Locations have not been added for the other dates. A Washington D.C. office will also open. There will be two or more offices operating in five states.

Taxpayers can receive walk-in help, but the TACs will not accept cash payments on Saturdays.

No centers are open on February 12 in Arkansas, Alaska, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma,  Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

People can receive walk-in help on all services, however, the TACs will not accept cash payments on these Saturdays.
