Workflow applications and mobile devices have been two of the hottest technologies in the tax-and-accounting marketplace. So making workflow and project management functions available via smartphones and tablets is about a logical combination as bread and butter.

CCH's IntelliConnect research platform is going to support the Apple Safari operating system this year. It's a tribute to just how far Apple has come in gaining acceptance in the business market and is part of the developing mobile strategy of the tax and accounting vendor.

Drake Software is going to market Beyond415, a web-based application from New River Innovation, which handles events after tax filing, such as Internal Revenue Service notices, issues, audits and client management. Under the multi-year agreement the companies are conducting joint marketing efforts.

CCH has acquired SpeedTax, a Laguna Hills, Calif.-based company that markets internet-based sales-and-use tax applications. CCH said that SpeedTax would continue to be offered as product line separate from its CorpSystem tax product. SpeedTax's web-based system performs automated tax-calculations.
