Thomson Reuters has introduced PPC's Smart Practice Aids – Audit Essential – on its Checkpoint research platform. The company, which characterizes the product as a simplified entry point into Smart, says the system includes predefined engagements for small, non-complex entities and roll-forward of engagements with changes flagged to the next period.

Audit Essential can be used as a standalone tool or with the company's other engagement products. The application automates workflow of the steps and information needed to conduct an engagement and provides the ability to create custom audit programs to meet unique needs of clients.

Audit Essential is integrated with the Smart Practice Aids – Disclosure, which includes the disclosure requirements applicable to an entity; Engagement CS, which blends engagement tools, document management, trial balance and financial statement capabilities; and AdvanceFlow, a web-based engagement application designed to work with Thomson Reuters' GoFileRoom platform.
