CFOs: More Hiring in Fourth Quarter
The Robert Half Financial Hiring Index forecasts an increase in hiring during the fourth quarter, based on a survey of chief financial officers. Twelve percent of those surveyed expect to add full-time accounting and finance employees while 7 percent expect staff reductions. The five point net is up four points from the third-quarter study and is the highest projection in three years.
The hiring index is based on telephone interviews with 1,400 CFOs. The study found optimism about the outlook for these companies with 91 percent expressing at least some confidence in their firms' growth potential in the fourth quarter. Fifty-five percent of respondents said they are very confident, while 36 percent were somewhat confident.
