AICPA Awards $691,000 in Scholarship

American Institute of CPAs Foundation has awarded $691,000 in academic scholarships to 127 students through the AICPA Legacy Scholars Program.

The money was awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year. The complete list of 2024–25 recipients can be found at ThisWaytoCPA.com/LegacyScholarships.

There are five categories of scholarships are provided as follows:

Future CPA awards of between $3,000 to $10,000 to undergraduate or graduate  students interested in pursuing the CPA license.

John L. Carey Scholarship Award  offers $5,000 in assistance to liberal arts and non-business undergraduate degree holders pursuing both graduate studies in accounting and CPA licensure.

The Two-year Transfer Scholarship Award of $5,000 is available to students seeking to transfer from a two-year college to a four-year institution to complete a degree in accounting or an accounting-related field. 

Minority Accounting Students awards range between $3,000 and $10,000 forz full-time minority students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or an accounting-related major. 

The AICPA/PCPS George Willie Ethnically Diverse Student Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship for  talented accounting majors from ethnically diverse backgrounds, presented by the AICPA Foundation in collaboration with The AICPA Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS).

Bob Scott has provided information to the tax and accounting community since 1991, first as technology editor of Accounting Today, and from 1997 through 2009 as editor of its sister publication, Accounting Technology. He is known throughout the industry for his depth of knowledge and for his high journalistic standards.  Scott has made frequent appearances as a speaker, moderator and panelist and events serving tax and accounting professionals. He  has a strong background in computer journalism as an editor with two former trade publications, Computer+Software News and MIS Week and spent several years with weekly and daily newspapers in Morris County New Jersey prior to that.  A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in journalism, Bob is a native of Madison, Ind
