"We are doing a bunch of incremental things to get content closer to where people are going to use it," Mendelsohn says.
For instance, if a user wants to find the standard business mileage rate, existing Checkpoint searches might return several answers. But with Answer Path, the system determines there is a simple answer and returns only that.
Answer Path is "Smart enough to know if what you are asking has a short-answer," says Mendelsohn. "We give you references where you go deeper with it."
As the users type keywords, Answer Path displays Quick Tax Amounts and Orientation Documents, the latter providing plain English snapshots of topics with links to the applicable parts of the Internal Revenue Code.
