Abila, which makes nonprofit accounting and association management software, has been acquired by Community Brands. Community Brands was formed recently by combining Abila, Aptify and Your Membership into one company. Terms were not disclosed.
Based in Austin, Texas, Abila was created after the investment firm acquired MIP Funding and associated nonprofit software products from Sage in 2013.
A blog post by Mark Patterson, EVP and COO of Aptify, says the three brands will be run separately. “The intention behind Community Brands is not to merge, but rather to integrate where it makes sense,” Patterson wrote. The deal should provide increased research and development funding to support current initiatives and the company’s roadmap, he explained.
Jean-Paul Guilbault, CEO of Your Membership, was named president of Community Brands. Your Membership markets cloud-based association management applications. Abila fields the netForum association management platform and Aptify is in the same business.
Abila had changed leaders earlier this year. Krista Endsley, who had managed the company since its formation, was replaced as CEO by Craig Charlton in Feburary.
