Thomson Reuters has reorganized its software operations for the tax and accounting business in a move that also paves the way for the company to move products from this arena into Latin America. The move put elevated Jon Baron to the position of president of the Americas, workflow and service solutions, which supplants the previous Professional & Software Services of which Baron was president.
Baron, who is based in Dexter, Mich., says there are no firm plans to announced for the Brazil and the Spanish-speaking nations of Latin America. However, he says the new group will be seeking the partners it needs to move into the new countries. The tax and accounting operations have previously been limited to the United States and Canada. Meanwhile, Teresa Mackintosh has been promoted to the position of SVP and general manager of the professional market. That unit’s products include the UltraTax tax preparation software, and other members of the CS professional suite such as FileCabinet CS, Client Bookkeeping Solution and Write-up CS.
Also under Baron are three other units, myPay Solutions, headed by SVP Jack LaRue, while Joe Jackson heads the other two groups, corporate income tax, and OneSource Information Reporting, a 1099 business. Baron says the OneSource operation was split away from another Thomson unit with the plan to expand that business.
