Payroll processing giant ADP is readying the lauch of moble payroll applictions for its Run payroll system in the September quarter with the intention of supporting all mobile devices including the iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Android. The company is already in putting together pilot projects for small and mid-market customers.
The plans were detailed at the company's investor's day last month by Mark Capone, ADP's chief information officer. Capone said the decision had been made to support all platforms "right out of the gate".
Support for mobil applications is expected to be wecolmed by customers. "By deploying Run on a mobile platform, small business and CPAs will have full control of accounts whereever they are," he said.
The roll out of Run will also be completed this year. It was introduced in 2008 in what Capone called a "rolling basis" and has been sold to new customers. By the end of fiscal 2010 on June 30, the product will be available from the entire small business services sales force.
ADP also intends to roll out a new user portal with a Web 2.0 portal interface during the fiscal year. Capone said "The interface will be consistent for practitioners and employees but the functionality will vary slightly." It will be designed for users at mid-sized and large companies and will offer self-service functions to employees.
