BNA Tax & Accounting's State Tax Nexus Evaluator, a new research tool, helps businesses and practitioners determine income tax nexus for 50 U.S. states, Washington, D.C. and New York City. Evaluator features 10 corporate business activity categories and activities with a series of questions about each. The product processes these and then provides a detailed report by state that explains whether nexus may exist.
Evaluator can select multiple states and/or multiple activities to build a nexus comparison chart showing which states and which activities create nexus for a company’s transactions. The system can evaluate multiple years to see how state positions may have changed
The application provides answers to nexus questions such as the following: ownership/leasing of in-state property; ownership interest in in-state pass-through entities; licensing intangibles; employee activities, both sales and non-sales related and distribution and delivery of goods.
Reports can be customized, saved and reported as RTF documents which can be imported in Microsoft Word and applications. Reports can also be archived within the system.
