Ceridian: Red Tape Hampered COBRA Effort

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Ceridian Benefits Services has found that the COBRA subsidy enacted by the U.S. government would have helped more unemployed workers if it required fewer compliance, paperwork and record keeping responsibilities from employers. The company's report was present to members of the U.S. Department of the Treasury this week by the American Benefits Council.
IRS Form Aids Processing Mortgage Applications

WASHINGTON — A new form from the Internal Revenue Service for the processing of mortgage applications under the Home Affordable Modification Programs is designed to simplify the procedures faced by homeowners trying to modify or refinance their mortgages, to order copies of tax return transcripts.
Copanion Snares $10.2M

ANDOVER, Mass. – Copanion, which markets tax document automation software, has closed a $10.2 million round of venture capital funding, co-lead by Commonwealth Capital Ventures and Pilot House Ventures Group. It was the company's third fund-raising round. With the financing, Edward Jennings, Copanion’s former SVP of marketing and sales, has taken over the job of CEO from founder Steven Ladd, who is now responsible for new market development, an advisory position.
