Avantax to Be Acquired
Avantax, which reaches the financial planning market through advisors, is being acquired by Cetera Financial Group. The all cash-deal, valued at about $1.2 billion, marks the end of the final piece of Blucora, which had sought to bring together tax software and financial planning.
Intuit Assist for QB Testing
A generative AI-powered financial assistant, Intuit Assist for QuickBooks users, is in beta testing. The software company said this week Assist will be “rolling out more broadly later this year”.

It was a big year for payments software company Bill which passed the $1 billion revenue mark and also reported its first non-GAAP income for the year ended June 30.
QB Desktop Payroll Prices Rising
Prices for users of QuickBooks Payroll will increase on October 1. The changes, announced this month by Intuit, go along with similar increases for prices to QuickBooks Desktop as the company pushes its online versions.
