It is part of the IRS’s development of the accounts, which were launched last fall which gives taxpayers the ability to pay Federal Tax Deposits, along with being able to seei and makie payments.
The agency said when they are fully developed the accounts will enable many business taxpayers to check tax histories, make payments, view notices, authorize powers of attorney and conduct other business with the IRS.
In addition, the IRS has made the accounts accessible in Spanish.
Those currently eligible to use the accounts include sole proprietors with an Employer Identification Number issued by the IRS; an individual partner or individual shareholder with both Social Security number or an individual tax ID number and a Schedule K-1 on file (for partners, from 2012-2023; for shareholders, from 2006-2023).
Currently, a limited liability company that reports business income on a Schedule C can’t access Business Tax Account.
