The Internal Revenue Service says it has received $172 million from 21,000 wealthy taxpayers who have not filed tax returns since 2017..
The money was received in the first six months of the program targeting well-to-do delinquents. The IRS is targeting those with more than $1 million in income and more than $250,000 in recognized tax debt.
Last fall, the IRS targeted 1,600 high-income individuals and had received $1 billion by July with another $100 million received since.
