Tax professionals must update account information when they return to the accounts on or after October 24. They will go through the Secure Access process, which includes identity proofing, financial verification and mobile phone verification. After y registering, users must provide usernames and passwords, along with the security code that will be sent to their mobile devices via text. The IRS is providing information on the required steps through Secure Access: How to Register for Certain Online Self-Help Tools.
Those who registered for Get Transcript Online after June have already passed the Secure Access process. Their validated identity information automatically migrates to their e-service accountants and they only need to change passwords on October 24.
The changes affect all with e-services accounts registered as Electronic Return Originators, Transmitters, Large Business Taxpayers with e-file mandates, Software Developers, ACA insurance provider fee/Branded prescription drug filers, ACA Information Return Transmitter/Issuer, Reporting agents and Not for Profit (VITA/TCE/LITC) users. States that use Transcript Delivery Service, and IVES Participants and e-services account holders who only use TIN Matching will also need to validate their identity.
