General plans were outlined for the program. In a prepared statement, the company said, "The open platform will include the creation of a consumer marketplace that will provide developers the ability to offer a variety of financial services to customers."
More developers are expected to be added during the next year. Intuit did not specify the kinds of applications it expects to emerge.
Intuit says the first developer to join the program is Earnest, a student loan refinancer, whose Precision Pricing tool enables borrows to customize loans based on borrowers' budgets.
