Reece pleaded guilty in October to aiding and assisting in the preparation and filing of false and fraudulent tax returns. Besides using a variety of techniques to boost client refunds, he passed the returns off as self-prepared to conceal his role as preparer.
From about 2013 through 2015, he actions caused a tax loss of between $550,000 and $1.5 million. He prepared returns that claimed false business income and losses, medical and dental expense deductions, job-related expenses, charitable donations and other fraudulent items.
