Georgia Preparer Faces 22 Years

A Columbus, Ga., tax preparer has pleaded guilty to charges of federal wire fraud and identity theft. Kevan Walker, 33, of Columbus, faces a sentence of 20 years for wire fraud and a mandatory two-year sentence for ID theft.

Walker was the owner of Walker Tax Financial Group. His co-defendant, Tiffany Gist, also known as Tiffany Walker, 46, also of Columbus pleaded guilty plea on July 23, 2019 to one count Wire Fraud and one count Identity Theft. 

The two were charged with filing 126 fraudulent returns that claimed $216,884 in refunds during the 2013 tax season. The defendents admitted they used one victim’s Social Security number to file a bogus return.
