IRS Suspends Houston CPA for Preparing False Returns
WASHINGTON - A CPA based in Houston has been suspended from practice before the Internal Revenue Service for 12 months for providing false or misleading information in connection with the preparation of client tax returns. The Office of Professional Responsibility took the action against CPA Robert A. Loeser who it said assisted clients in claiming false business expenses on tax returns he prepared.
The IRS said Loeser advised clients to forward funds from their businesses to two corporations Loeser controlled. Those corporations then rebated funds to clients and Loeser prepared clients' books and tax returns expensing and deducting the money paid to the companies. The IRS alleged Loeser violated Circular 230 by giving false or misleading information to the Department of Treasury and the IRS.
