A Pennsylvania CPA, the former president of B'nai B'rith, faces a possible 15 years in prison and a $1.5 million fine for preparing false tax returns. A federal jury in Philadelphia this week convicted Dennis Glick of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., for preparing the returns and trying to obstruct and impede internal revenue laws.
Glick falsified by returns of a client, Jonathan Felix, who had been indicted for the returns he filed for tax years 1999 through 2002. In 2004, Glick fabricated management fee figures on Felix's tax returns in order to get a small refund in each year. Glick was also accused of lying twice to federal law enforcement agents about his actions and his conduct caused a tax loss more more than $400,000,
Felix was the owner of an S corporation called United Professional Plans which administers dental plans for labor union health and welfare funds and had removed significant funds from the company during those years. Evidence showed that Glick knew about Felix's actions, which caused UPPI to lose clients and close down.
