N.Y. CPA Sentenced for Failure to Pay

department-of-justice-logoA CPA who lives in Queens, N.Y., has been sentenced to two years in prison for failure to pay employment taxes due from his firm's operation. Silford Warren drew the sentence involving his nonpayment of taxes for his firm, Silford Warren CPA.

Warren was also ordered to pay $184,263 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service. He pleaded guilty on December 9 to willfully failing to pay those taxes by under-reporting employees' salaries on filings with the IRS from 2006 through 2008. He failed to pay the matching portion of employment taxes and also filed false corporate returns.
