Xero, which makes online accounting software, has announced a free QuickBooks Conversion Service. The New Zealand-based software company said the service will be introduced during a 20-city road show that starts October 21 in Baltimore.

The service is now available. Xero requests those interested to email the company at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. It responds with some questions and then the user uploads QuickBooks files.

Xero claims its conversion "transfers nearly every component of a small business' QuickBooks financial landscape directly into the Xero platform, including chart of accounts, contacts, inventory items and transaction history such as invoices and payments."
