The movement of executives continues under CEO Martin Mucci at Paychex. In the latest round, Michael Gioja was promoted to the role of SVP of product development and information technology. Meanwhile, the company announced the retirement of Michael McCarthy, VP of major market services sales, effective August 1.
Gioja, previously VP of product management, joined the payroll services company in November 2008. He now has responsibility for all strategic technology initiatives. McCarthy is being replaced by Christian Timol, who has been with Paychex for 18 years. Timol was most recently a zone sales manager.
Since Mucci moved up from the role of SVP of operations early last year, there has been a lot of action. A position of VP of marketing was created while both the HR VP and CFO retired and replacements named. A sales VP was named in the spring, but left after five days and the company has not yet named a new candidate.
