SageSpark Services Shelved

SageSpark logoSage is shelving three services of SageSpark, its online application suite and portal for small businesses. A note on the Spark website says the company has dropped Payment Plus, Payment Boss and Known Locally, the latter a website hosting service, effective July 31. Billing Boss, which is reported to have 2.8 million customers in the United States and Canada, remains on the market.

SageSpark was started in April 2009 as a way of bringing a new kind of business customer - very small organizations - into the market for Sage services and products. Billing Boss, an invoicing application, was introduced at that time.

Besides Billing Boss, Simply Accounting, the low-cost application that is designed primarily for the Canadian market is featured on the SageSpark site. It was also re-introduced into the market in the United States to reach the Hispanic audience.

The site also promotes the more recent Sage Payment Solutions, which is the payment system of choice across most Sage lines, and apparently is assuming the same role for Spark customers. The company said that it would continue to support websites that were registered and hosted via Known Locally until the registrations expire.
