Intuit Introduces Bookkeeping Product

Jacint Tumacder, IntuitIntuit has entered a new product arena with the introduction of QuickBooks Professional Bookkeeper. The company says the new product was designed in recognition of the different functions and career paths of professional bookkeepers.

Accountants and bookkeepers "have very different career paths," notes Intuit product manager Jacint Tumacdor. "The bookkeeper has distinct needs that we have not previously served."

Bookkeepers often do not go to school to learn their skills and after working in the field those with greater expertise become consultants, he continues.

Professional Bookkeeper is designed for working with multiple small business clients and enables the user to open up two files at the same time. A starter copy lets users set up new clients by utilizing existing client files as templates. The feature automatically imports non-sensitive company information such as preferences, chart of accounts, and type of tax form.

There is also a bookkeeper center that Intuit has designed to streamline workflow. A Reconcile Widget provides a single place for examining account balances, reconciled balance and last reconciled date.

Price: Single-user, $199.95 (promotional price), $399.95 (regular price); Three-user, $499.95 promotional price), $999.95 (regular price). Intuit: (877) 300-7345.
