NASBA Debuts Experience Verification Service

Ken L. Bishop, NASBA The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy has launched CPA Experience Verification, a service designed to provide a better organized and standardized experience validation and verification process for CPA licensure applicants. The service is available in nine states and Washington D.C.

NASBA has not yet established a fee as it is building out the service for clients in the United States. The fee for international candidates is $700. NASBA says its vertification process typically takes four to six weeks, but in rare situations may require up to 12 weeks.

The service pairs applicants seeking licensure as CPAs in the United State with a NASBA client manager to guide them through the application process. That process is followed by verification of work experience by the DataFlow Group and an interview with a licensed CPA to further validate the applicant's experience and determine if the applicant is qualified for licensure.

Those applying for the service must have passed the Uniform CPA Examination and met educational and experience requirements for licensure in their jurisdiction. After the process is completed, a final report will be sent to the specific Board of Accountancy for licensure consideration and approval.

In a prepared statement, NASBA CEO Ken L. Bishop said the service "is a much needed service for international and domestic CPA candidates."

The services is available in Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin. Interested individuals can submit an interest form available at https://nasba.org/products/experienceverification/interestform/
