Intuit Intros Online Pro Tax Product

Intuit ProlIneIntuit has officially introduced a Web-based professional tax preparation product that it has said earlier this year would been ready for use for tax season. The major news in this announcement was that Intuit revealed pricing for the product, which is not based on the same code base as either its desktop Lacerte or ProSeries tax packages.

The initial release of ProLine Tax Online is modest, designed for preparers who compete about 50 individual tax returns annually, while 22 states are supported in this roll out. The product carries an introductory price of $19.95 per client that includes all filings associated with a client’s return, including Federal and single- or multi-state returns. Intuit said the first 2,000 customers who register by January 31 receive a $9.95 per client promotional price. The line will be expanded to provide modules for businesses, partnerships, S corporations and other entities, although Intuit did not provide a schedule.

The states supported in the initial roll out are Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin
