Rippling Expands EOR Program 2
Rippling has expanded its Employer of Record program to eight new countries. The change is part of the latest monthly release of the office application.
With EOR, a user can establish a legal entity in a country outside the United States, giving the user the ability to hire and pay employees in other countries. The latest additions are Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Israel, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland and Turkey.
In addition, Rippling is providing hourly workers with a weekly break down of pay on paystubs so they can see hours worked, including overtime, for each of the weeks included in the pay period.
Users can now down payroll comparison data as a CSV file. Rippling says it has also provided more efficient time-entry CSV imports for Time an Attendance since users can automatically reconcile timestamps based on the employee’s timezone and
filter down to a specific set of imported entries and delete only those
They can also import thousands of entries in seconds, versus 30 minutes.

The continuing boom in online tax preparation led Intuit to a 10-percent increase in sales of its consumer tax software, TurboTax, during the tax season. TurboTax continued to gain at the expense of tax store chains with H&R Block reporting its return total dropped by 4.9 percent. Meanwhile, quarterly results filed by Republic Bancorp showed a increase in net income from refund anticipation loans despite an 11 percent decrease in loan fees.

Sage Chief Executive Will Leave

The Sage Group has confirmed that Paul Walker, who was been chief executive of the British company for 16 years and has worked at the company for 26 years, will resign. The company did not give a date, but said he would leave "in due course" as the company worked through the transition.

New CS Professional Suite Web Site Rolling Out

Thomson Reuters is rolling out a new Web site for its CS Professional software operations, which include the UltraTax and NetClient lines, that puts an increased emphasis on the services that the company has available, and not just on its software products.

Intuit Readies Practice Management Suite
Intuit is developing an office management suite for tax and accounting professionals that will also integrate across Lacerte, QuickBooks and Microsoft Outlook. The company is not ready to release specifics about the functionality, but the move would put Intuit in the practice management software market, something that has been missing in its professional line, and give it more products for larger firms.
H&R Block CFO Quittng

Becky Shulman, the CFO of H&R Block is leaving the company at the end of the month. And while company didn't link her resignation to any factor, it said she was not leaving for another job and that it would like to expand the job of CFO to include operations. Shulman, who became CFO in March 2008, joined the tax franchisor in 2001 and the company credited her with helping build a strong financial position.

Macdonald and Infor Part Company
Taylor Macdonald, who ran the reseller program for Sage North America for several years, has left Infor, an enterprise software company for which he was building a global reseller program. Confirmation of his departure coincided with a press release by Infor stating it had enlisted 25 new channel partners and declaring its program a success. The released a statement saying that "Taylor devoted his full energy to an evaluation of our current channel program, including extensive travel to visit partners around the globe."

WASHINGTON - The Internal Revenue Service said this week it has secured 56 indictments, 25 convictions and 21 civil injunctions since January 1 as part of its effort to cut down on the number of unscrupulous tax return preparers. There have also been more than 5,000 field visits to tax return preparers during the federal government's fiscal year.

Thomson CEO's Pay Almost $9.5 Million
Thomson Reuters CEO Thomas Glocer pulled down $9.45 million in compensation for 2009, the first full year of the combined operations of Thomson and Reuters. Excluding a substantial grant Glocer received for work in integrating the companies, the more usual sources of income gave him $8.5 million for 2008. That information came in preparation for the annual meeting at which the directors are supporting a resolution giving shareholders a non-binding say on executive compensation.
AICPA Donates to Habitat for Haitian Relief

NEW YORK — The American Institute of CPAs has donated $40,000 to Habitat for Humanity International to assist in efforts to help Haiti recover from its terrible earthquake. The donation was made possible by member contributions to the CPAs in Support of America Fund, a relief fund that was formed after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and was also used to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Nelco Upgrades Wage and Info Reporting Engine

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Nelco has launched a new Wage and Information Reporting Engine, an updated version of a tool for developers of software products that offer accounting or payroll functions. Nelco said by using Wire, developers can take raw data from their applications and merge that with a library of government-approved federal and state wage and information reporting forms. The tool enables users to see forms on screen, edit data, print forms and save archive copies.
