Xero has created the position of chief growth officer. But besides being responsible for the new Applications and Services division, newly hired Chris O’Neill is charged with growing the business in the Americas.
The New Zealand-based Cloud software provider says O’Neill, who is based in San Francisco, Calif., will work closely with Xero’s president for the Americas, Tony Ward.
The new division encompasses Financial Services, Payroll, Planday and the Ecosystem/Xero App store.
O’Neill, was most recently a senior advisor and previously a partner with Sagard/Portage Investors from 2020 on. Before that, he served as president and CEO for Evernote from 2015 through 2018. He was worked at Google for slightly more than 10 years, including one year with global business operations for Goggle X and managing director for Google Canada from 2010 through 2014.

He is known throughout the industry for his depth of knowledge and for his high journalistic standards. Scott has made frequent appearances as a speaker, moderator and panelist and events serving tax and accounting professionals. He has a strong background in computer journalism as an editor with two former trade publications, Computer+Software News and MIS Week and spent several years with weekly and daily newspapers in Morris County New Jersey prior to that.
