Blundell retired from Intuit in January. A celebration of life will be held in San Diego, Calif., in January with details to be made available later.
He was a partner with Pignato, Underwood, Blundell, a Delray Beach, Fla.-based accounting firm where he worked for 17 years. Together with Larry Wolfe, Blundell founded Direct Link Software, which wrote the Accountant's Trial Balance. That product was marketed by the American Institute of CPAs for many years.
In 1997, Chipsoft, the original publisher of TurboTax, acquired Direct Link. ChipSoft was later acquired by Intuit. At that company, Wolfe became an EVP and headed the TurboTax Group, leading the launch of that product's online version. Blundell's was leader of non-tax development and VP of the Pro Series Tax Group.
In his later years with the software company, he served as Accounting Customer Advocate.
