Jackson Hewitt, Republic, Enter New Deal

Jackson Hewitt Tax Services and Republic Bancorp have entered a two-year agreement under which Republic will provide bank products to the tax preparation chain. The agreement followed the conclusion of arbitration between the two sides over Jackson Hewitt's termination of the contract between them in 2012.
Waugh Hands Rainmaker to New CEO

The Rainmaker Companies, which provide consulting and training resources for the accounting profession, have named J. Daniel Brooks as CEO. He replaces Troy Waugh, who has stepped aside from day-to-day duties after 23 years as CEO of the business he founded.
CPA Draws SEC Action for Quickie Audits

A Maryland CPA who claimed to have audited four years worth of financial statements in less than 40 hours faces disciplinary action from the SEC. The SEC says CPA Eugene M. Egeberg of Hampstead, Md., had no audit training and used a checklist from the American Institute of CPAs as his guide in auditing statements of 20 public companies. Egeberg voluntarily withdrew his registration with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board in November 2012.
