Thomson Reuters is acquiring SurePrep for $500 million in cash. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023.
Based in Irvine, Calif., SurePrep markets software for tax offices, including 1040 SCAN. It was founded by CEO David Wyle, who also founded the former ePace Software. That organization was purchased by CCH Inc. (now part of Wolters Kluwer), which renamed its product ProSystem fx Engagement.
1040Scan is a scan and populate package that is designed to capture information from source documents and export that data to tax preparation software package. The company’s other core products are Spbinder, workpaper management software for tax preparation, and TaxCaddy, a client tax portal for uploading documents.
