Tax Store Owner Guilty to Evasion

 GuiltyThe owner of a tax franchise business in Claxton, Ga., has pleaded guilty to underreporting his taxes for three years.

Samir Patel of Statesboro, Ga., worked as a tax preparer for what was identified as a national tax preparation business from 1999 to 2021. He then purchased the franchise in 2015. Patel admitted to underreporting his income for tax years 2015, 2016, and 2017.
