IRSAC Members Sought

The Internal Revenue Service is seeking applications for the 2025 Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council (IRSAC) through May 31 for terms beginning in January and is also looking for nominees for a new subcommittee focused on fairness issues.

This new subcommittee will issue recommendations relating  to fairness in tax administration for low-income communities, communities of color and other historically underserved populations. The body  will coordinate with the Treasury Advisory Committee on Racial Equity (TACRE), which previously provided recommendations  concerns racial disparities in audit selection.

For IRSAC membership, the IRS seeks individuals with a wide range of experience in areas including tax preparation for individuals, small businesses and large multinational corporations; tax exempt and government entities; information reporting; taxpayer or consumer advocacy; fairness in tax administration and civil rights and community engagement.

Applications should document the nominee’s qualifications. Applicants must be in good standing with their tax obligations and demonstration high professional and ethical standards and must pass a tax compliance and practitioner check.

Bob Scott
Bob Scott has provided information to the tax and accounting community since 1991, first as technology editor of Accounting Today, and from 1997 through 2009 as editor of its sister publication, Accounting Technology. He is known throughout the industry for his depth of knowledge and for his high journalistic standards.  Scott has made frequent appearances as a speaker, moderator and panelist and events serving tax and accounting professionals. He  has a strong background in computer journalism as an editor with two former trade publications, Computer+Software News and MIS Week and spent several years with weekly and daily newspapers in Morris County New Jersey prior to that.  A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in journalism, Bob is a native of Madison, Ind
