Taxpayers may also use IRS2Go apps to access accounts by using a new "Security" feature, which enables the app to generate a unique security code without being connected to the Internet.
Creation of new accounts via Secure Access was recently suspended as the IRS moved to Experian as its new identity proofing vendor. The IRS says Secure Access provides a more rigorous identity-proofing process and requires use of two-factor access by returning users.
The IRS also will expand Secure Access protection to e-Services, which means all eService users who do not have a Secure Access account must re-register.
