CCH has worked to fix and eliminate software and service problems identified a year ago by users, Karen Abramson, CEO of Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting, said this week. And after more than a year at the company, Abramson outlined four problems areas to attendees at the company's CCH Connections User Conference 2013 as she used her keynote to focus on issues and their resolution.

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board has censured Deloitte and imposed a $2 million civil money penalty on the Big Four Accounting firm. Deloitte drew the action for not preventing a partner, who was subject to a PCAOB agreement barring him from associating with a registered firm, from continuing to be involved in audits.

As JTH, the parent of Liberty Tax Services, put its restatement of financial results behind it, CEO John Hewitt dropped a brief comment about expanding Liberty's Walmart operations. That came as the company reported a narrower loss on an 11.3-percent rise in revenue for the first quarter ended July 31.
