There are few people who don't know that modern workers are carrying a lot of electronic devices for voice and data communication. On the heels of its purchase of inventory software company, Lettuce, Intuit has announced the acquisition of Australian start-up, Invitco. The Sydney-based company developed cloud-based data extraction technology that is used in its accounts payable processing product, Invitbox. Intuit's rival Xero named Invitco as its Emerging Add-On Partner of the Year for 2013.

Xero is moving its North American conference to the spring of 2015. The New Zealand-based cloud software company held its first conference in this country in September 2013 but has confirmed it will not be holding another this fall.

A California CPA has been barred from associating with a registered accounting by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. The agency took the action against Henry Mendoza, age 55, and censured him for instructing staff to backdate workpapers involving the audits of the financial statements of two clients while he was managing partner of the former Mendoza, Berger & Co.
