The new Easy Advance loan program from Republic Bancorp netted the institution $1.6 million for the first quarter ended March 31. The company brought in $5.2 in interest income from the program, offset by $3.6 million provision for loss on the loans. Meanwhile, the company's refund transfer business rose by 11 percent over the first quarter of 2015.

Bookkeepers have emerged as technology leaders and are adopting modern technologies quickly. That is one of the conclusions of the State of Bookkeeping Practices 2016 Survey, which was sponsored by Bill.com.

The roll out of his company's web-based NXT line is going well, Mike Gianoni, CEO of nonprofit software vendor Blackbaud said recently. Gianoni made his comments during the webcast of Blackbaud's results for the first quarter ended March 31. "The uptick [in NXT sales] is very healthy," he commented. And results for the quarter were very healthy.
