CPA firms had modest increases in revenue last year, accompanied by a stable or brightening profit picture, according to findings of the National Management of an Accounting Practice Survey. Increases were recorded for 2013 in every firm segment, form those with less than $200,000 in annual revenue to those with more than $10 million.

Thomson & Reuters Tax & Accounting is readying a web suite of products for accounting firms. As discussed by Jon Baron, managing director of the company's professional segment, new products will emphasize a "clean look" and ease of use that is going to significantly change the look and feel of its tax and accounting software products.

The strong year for Thomson Reuters' Tax & Accounting business stayed strong in the third quarter ended September 30 with operating profit up 26 percent on a 13-percent rise in revenue. The company says all segments of the operation showed revenue growth with organic growth up 9 percent.
