H&R Block has talked about the need for the services of its tax preparers. But it was do-it-yourselfers that gave Block the largest percentage growth in revenue for its year ended April 30. D-I-Y fees grew 12.1 percent to $228.4 million for the year just ended while overall revenue was up only 1.8 percent.

Cloud accounting software vendor Xero introduced a business performance dashboard and integration with the Apple iOS at its Xerocon conference. At the conference, now underway in Denver, Colo., Xero said that the dashboard provides eight core performance metrics and more than 20 in Australia and New Zealand.

Jack Weichman, a Munster, Ind., CPA, has been charged with 34 counts that follo earlier charges he stole more than $600,000 from a doctor to pay for his gambling debts. A superseding indictment charged Weichman with nine counts of bank fraud, fourteen counts of bankruptcy fraud, two counts of money laundering, four counts of wire fraud, and five counts of filing false federal income tax returns.
