Abila Takes MIP to the Web

Dan Murphy, Abila Abila is readying the introduction of MIP Advance, an Internet-version of the long-marketed fund accounting package. The roll out begins in July with elements suited for CFPs and executive stakeholders of nonprofits organizations. The first elements include executive dashboarding, quick financial reports and quick journal voucher entry.

The release of those features is an answer to CFOs who complain about "Not having time to get into data to create reporting they need for high level reporting or to put together package to get out to their board," says Dan Murphy, product manager for Austin, Texas-based Abila.

Advance opens to a landing page that is a dashboard with key performance indicators displayed across the top. Murphy says the system also comes with reports that are easy to generate from the system.

The cloud product maintains the multi-dimensional chart of accounts and business logic built into MIP and its user interface was inspired by the desktop version, but requires fewer clicks to operate, Murphy says. Advance adds the ability to drill down to the document level, although it does not yet provide for drilling down to actual document images. The system will operate off the same database as the desktop version

Plans call for a fall introduction of Accounts Payable, Budget Forecasting and Management with Bank Reconciliation and Cash Management following in Spring 2016.

Abila offers three subscription pricing plans. At $99 per month, the Basic plan is described as "Best for cash-based organizations and Excel graduates." It comes with the GL, AP, Bank Reconciliation, Dashboard and Export Only to Excel. The Standard Plan is priced at $199 per month and is suited for "single-user organizations and QuickBooks graduates". It features A/R Reporting, a Forms Designer, API and Import/Export. The Pro Plan, suited for housing providers and utilities, comes at $399 per month, adding A/R Billing, electronic funds transfer and Fixed Assets to the Standard Plan.
