Serenic Founders Buy OneSoft Line

Jay Malik, TangicloudTangicloud, owned by Jay and Liesa Malik, the founders of Serenic Software, has purchased the OneNFP business unit from OneSoft Solutions. The Maliks are bringing the cloud-based nonprofit software group into the product line of their newest company. The deal brings them back into the NFP software market after several years' absence.

The former Serenic Software was sold to Sylogist, a publicly held Canadian company, on June 26, 2014. Serenic changed its name to OneSoft Solutions, which kept the cloud-based technology, while Sylogist marketed the desktop Serenic Navigator and other Serenic applications.

OneSoft says it will now concentrate on its OneBridge subsidiary. Launched in July, OneBridge is developing products for the oil and gas pipeline industry.

Tangicloud, based in Littleton, Colo., says its application is based on the old Serenic, but that a new version, based on Dynamics NAV 2016, will be launched during the spring. Tangicloud says the new software will have the following prices: $420 per month for the first user; $210 per month for each subsequent user; $20 per month for a "limited" user. The prices include all software and Microsoft server hosting.

Because of conditions regarding Tangicloud's performance and currency issues, the companies said they could not accurately state the purchase price, but that it could range up to $250,000.
On Feb. 13, 2015, OneSoft sued Sylogist for what it alleged was an unpaid part of the original $8.1 million purchase price. Also that month, OneSoft raised about $800,000 through a Canadian private placement. Syllogist counter-sued alleging it should be compensated for losses on the purchase.
