McKinstry's 2009 Pay Flat at Wolters Kluwer

Nancy McKinstryCompensation for Wolters Kluwer chief executive Nancy McKinstry remained virtually unchanged in 2009, although the company, parent to CCH, has decided to give three top executives raises in their base pay for 2010. McKinstry earned about $3.85 million in 2009, which was down 1,000 euros from 2008. She will receive a 2-percent increase in base pay this year

McKinstry's base was about $1.million at current euro values. CFO Boudewijn Beerkens, who earned about $1.85 million in 2009, will also receive a 2-percent increase in his base pay of roughly $800,000. The information was reported in the 2009 Wolters Kluwer annual report.

However, the supervisory board gave executive board member John Lynch a 26-percent hike in base pay for 2010, which it said was a reflection of the expanded role of Technology and Global Shared Services and the importance of the Springboard program to the company's long-term objectives as well as alignment with market benchmarks. Lynch's pay rose to just under $1.4 million last year, up 33 percent from 2008. His base for 2009 was about $499,000.

The company describes Springboard as a  "Wolters Kluwer-wide initiative aimed at streamlining and simplifying processes as well as technology across the organization." The program was launched in 2008.
